Cycle Norway across. From the Oslofjord on the eastside to Bergen on the westcoast.
Eastern Norway with the Oslofjord is the first part. We bike through large forest- and agricultural-areas and passing small lakes and rivers along the road. The next part is in to the mountains and the mountain plateau, Hardangervidda. After crossing the Hardangervidda we descend to the Fjordlandscape of the inland of Western Norway, with high mountains surrounding the Fjords. The last day we cycle all the way to Bergen, the second largest town in Norway, but with a small-town atmosphere.
In a few days you travel in totally different landscapes, each of them with their own fascination and beauty.
From the 4th to the 11th of august 2019
Oslo airport Gardermoen/Bergen airport Flesland
Our starting point is located directly on the Oslofjords eastside in Larkollen, about 70 km south of Oslo. We will cycle along the fjord on local roads before we cross the fjord with a ferry from Moss to Horten. From Horten we leave the fjord and enter agricultural areas heading towards the mountain areas.
From Kongsberg to Imingfjell we will experience the change of the landscape. At Imingen we are on the eastern border of the Hardangervidda mountain plateau, which we will cross over after cycling through different beautiful valleys.
After crossing Hardangervidda from Geilo we bike all the way from 1200 meter above sea level and enter the fjordlandscape and the fjord at level 0. Along the fjord we are surrounded by beautiful mountains.
We bike from Eidfjord to Kinsarvik and with a ferry we reach Utne. Here we start on 30 km famous National Route, surrounded by different fruit trees along the Hardanger fjord. From Jondal with a new ferrytrip we arrive Tørvikbygd, before we continue on the bikes to Norheimsund where we stay overnight.
On the last part we travel along different fjordarms and entering Bergen from the southside after a climb up to and over Fanafjellet. We will continue on our bikes, partly on cycle paths, all the way into the center of Bergen.
The accommodations are in Hotels all the way, except of day 2 at Imingen Fjellstue, which is a national tourist cabin.

Day of arrival: 4th of august 2019
Meeting time: 3.30 PM.
Meeting point: Oslo Airport Gardermoen
Our guide will meet you at Oslo Airport Gardermoen at the meeting point right outside the custom area. We will take the Express bus (NOR – WAY BUS) to Nesparken in Moss (approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes). The bus leaves from platform 44 and the end destination for the bus is Fredrikstad, signed in the front of the bus. We recommend everyone to find a flight with an arrival time at Oslo Airport Gardermoen no later than 2 PM.
At Nesparken/Moss we will be picked up and transported to Støtvig Hotel in Larkollen/Rygge where we stay the first night.
Before dinner we will test and adjust our bikes.
After dinner we will have an information meeting about the tour.
After breakfast we bike 15 km along the coast from Støtvig Hotel to Moss, where we take the ferry to Horten. (Crossing the Oslofjord in 30 minutes)
From Horten we are heading north to Kongsberg, before we take the last 20 kilometer up Jondalen to Søstrene Storaas Hotel (nearby Bolkesjø).
The distance from Horten to our hotel is close by 100 km and around 1300 height meter.
From Søstrene Storaas Hotel to Imingen Fjellstue (Imingen Mountain lodge). Today we leave the eastern part of Norway and end the day up on the south-eastern part of the Hardangervidda mountain plateau. The total in kilometre is “only 95” but it is a tuff stage with some short climbs and a real long one (a HC category on Strava). On the last 30 kilometre we climb from 200 MASL to 1100 MASL and the last 5 km of the climb is the steepest part. But as always, when you reach the top you will get your reward! A fantastic view! At Imingen Fjellstue we enjoy local food and sleep well in fresh mountain air. Distance: 95 km.
We start downhill for about 7 km before we reach the road which takes us to Rødberg. From Rødberg we start the longest climb of the day (used several times under Tour of Norway). We reach the top of the climb at Tunhovddammen. We follow Tunhovd fjorden (a lake) to Tunhovd where we will have a lunch. Tunhovd is a small society with a lot of cabins in the area around. We bike through an elongated valley called Skurdalen. As in many small places in Norway, a lot of people left the valleys and moved to the bigger cities for education and jobs. But in the last years we also see a change in the other direction. From Skurdalen we have a small climb up to Kikut, a well-known cabin area especially for winter activities. The last 5 km downhill to Geilo, the most famous winter destination in Norway, where we stay at Vestlia resort. Distance: 100 km.
This day we will cycle across Hardangervidda, Northern Europe highest mountain plateau. This is one of the main road routes between Oslo and Bergen. Even if it is a mountain plateau it is not flat, but it has an amazing view! With 40 kilometres left we are heading downwards to the fjord for about 30 kilometres. Here we meet the landscape of the Norwegian west coast, the Fjords, mountains and lush nature. We will stay in Eidfjord at Eidfjord Fjell and Fjord hotel. Distance: 90 km.
From Eidfjord to Norheimsund. Today we travel all day along the fjords. Spectacular nature and cosy small societies. From Kinsarvik we take the ferry to Utne before we travel along a national tourist road to Jondal where we take the next ferry to Tørrvikbygd. To Norheimsund where we stay the night it is only 13 kilometres from the ferry. Distance 80 km
From Norheimsund to Bergen. Today we also travel most of the day along the fjords surrounded by mountains. After about 75 kilometres we take the ferry from Venjaneset to Hatvik. Then we have about 40 kilometres left to centre of Bergen. We take the road over Fanafjellet, one of the mountains surrounding Bergen. Distance 115 km
A day on your own in Bergen and/or departure day.
